TAKE THAT!

Remember this? I am sure you do... because you were the first one to show it to me... years and years and years ago. Can I admit something to you? When you first showed this too me, I didn't notice that ANY of the words were misspelled until halfway through the paragraph.

I was so embarrassed by they... "Wow" I thought "I must be the world's worst speller." Because after a second look the words are so badly misspelled, how could I NOT see that right away?!?!?

Even now at work, my boss will point out my mistakes and ask me what I am going to do it prevent it. I say "I will try to pay more attention." But the truth is that I don't EVEN SEE the mistakes. My eyes glide right over them... not punctuation mistakes, not capitalization mistakes... not grammar mistakes... just spelling.

Last night I met this very nice lady and we got on the topic of grammatical errors etc. etc... and I admitted to her that I was a very bad speller and I always had been. She said to me "You that probably means you are a better reader!" "Really? Why do you say that?" She explained that she studied linguistics in schools and one of her classes studied the different way people read. Some people really DO look at the shape of the word, or the WHOLE word at once. In fact SOME people read several words at once! They are the faster, more coherent readers.... and the WORST spellers!

YEAH BABY! there is some redeeming qualities to those of us who are hopeless spellers!

In fact... this makes me so happy I might post in on my other blog, and my facebook, and my front door....

desperate

I am desperate for something to make me look busy.

The truth is that I am VERY busy... but it is all stuff that I do not want to do. SO I need something else todo.

Hand sanitizer

So whenever you watch the movies there are often scenes with super smart people that use common place chemicals around the hourse to make homemade bombs, or acid... or oxygen.. or fire.. take your pick. I have seen this before so many times.

So I think to myself.. I am a chemical engineer.. why can't I do that?

Well I did it for the first time today.

One day while I was on the phone. I was drawing on my desk at work... and those stupid pen marks on my desk have bothered me ever since. Every time I look at them I think "I should get IPA from the lab, that would clean that right up..."

But today I was putting hand sanitizer on, and I remembered that there is rubbing alcohol in hand sanitizer.. Do you know what rubbing alcohol is? IPA!!!!! That's right.. so I lathered up my desk with some hand sinitizer, and not only did it smell good, but it cleaned it right up!

Also, it made me realize that someday when I am a mom and I come in to a room to find out that my child had colored all over themselves with marker that I could probably get it off with hand sanitizer! THIS IS SO GENIUS!

Car Trouble

I think there is nothing more annoying than car trouble. It makes me want to go to technical school and get a two year degree so I can fix my own car. I am sitting at a car place right now waiting for my serpentine belt to be replaced. The first place I quoted was going to charge me $130. $65 for the belt $65 for labor. I went out and bought the belt myself, for $12, and found a local mechanic who said he will put it in for $20. Take that, super expensive place.

4th Anniversary

Chris and I decided we wouldn't spend a lot of money for our anniversary. We also happened to have small group on our anniversary, so I wanted something to share.
